The site of a golf club and woodland is the proposed new location for Frimley Park Hospital, an NHS trust has revealed.
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust announced plans earlier this year for a £2 billion facility, with bosses saying large parts of the current site on Portsmouth Road is built using unstable RAAC (reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete).
The new proposed location is part of the land occupied by Pine Ridge Golf Club, which is currently owned by local charity Frimley Fuel Allotments.
The NHS Trust says it would look to acquire 55 acres of land of the 265 acres owned by the charity.

Lance McCarthy, Chief Executive of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We’ve looked at 18 sites and this has come out as the only viable option within a five-mile radius.
“Obviously we will work woth residents and the landowners to undertake a detailed traffic analysis and envrironmental surveys that will be required for us to complete our business case process.”
Under proposals, the new hospital would provide emergency, inpatient and maternity care.
Outpatient, diagnositc and community appointments would continue to be provided from the current hospital site, where the buildings are unaffected by RAAC.
The trust says that this will help to keep travel disruption to a minimum and reduce pressure on local roads.
Mr McCarthy added: “This is about creating a hospital that local people can rely on – not just today, but for generations to come.
“A new Frimley Park Hospital will mean safer buildings, modern facilities and an environment that helps our staff deliver the very best care.”
Frimley Health has not purchased the land and says no final decisions have been made.
It would need the approval of the Department of Health and Social Care before any land was bought.
A new hospital would be funded by the government’s New Hospital Programme and is part of Wave One of the initiative due to presence of RAAC.
The trust hopes to start building between 2028 and 2029, with a planning application for a new hospital set to be submitted in autumn 2027.
