Clare hurler David Reidy has been released from hospital following the injury he sustained in Saturday’s All-Ireland quarter-final win over Dublin at FBD Semple Stadium.
The 2024 Liam MacCarthy Cup winner required lengthy treatment before being stretchered off the field in an incident which saw Dublin’s Brendan Kenny receiving a straight red card.
Reidy was taken off the pitch in a neck brace and was transferred to hospital by ambulance along with team-mate Conor Cleary, who picked up an injury before half-time.
In the aftermath, Reidy’s team-mate Shane O’Donnell had described it as a “scary” moment, although he added that he was showing signs of improvement shortly after.
That progress continued on Sunday with Clare GAA confirming that he had now been released from hospital.
“Clare hurler David Reidy has been released from hospital and is recovering well following the injury he sustained in yesterday’s game,” they said in a statement.
“A huge thank you to the first responders and medical teams from Clare GAA and Dublin GAA, as well as the staff at FBD Semple Stadium, for the outstanding care and attention provided.
“Many thanks to all who have sent messages of support and well wishes to David.”
