Sharlene Mawdsley has lowered her 400m personal best for the third time this season with a blistering run at the FBK Games in the Netherlands.
The 27-year-old edged closer to breaking 50 second barrier with a time of 50.14 at the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting.
Mawdsley finished second in a race won by Egypt’s Bassant Hemida (50.10), with Dutch rival Lieke Klaver third.
It continues a superb season for the Tipperary woman.
Twice in the space of a week last month Mawdsley lowered her time in the event, firstly running a time of 50.52 in Italy before bringing that down to 50.17 in Brussels.
The European mixed relay gold medallist is showing fine with the European Athletics Championships from 10 to 16 August in Birmingham looming on the horizon.
