Historian Catherine Corless has praised a new film telling the story of the Tuam babies scandal, describing it as “very special” and saying that “truth is running through it all the way.”

The Lost Children of Tuam is set to premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh on July 11th. The project was first secured by actor Liam Neeson, who acquired the film rights in 2018.

Directed by Frank Berry, the film stars BAFTA-winning actress Monica Dolan and focuses on the events surrounding the discovery of the remains of children at the former Mother and Baby Home in Tuam.

Catherine Corless’s groundbreaking research led to the uncovering of an unmarked mass grave at the site, bringing international attention to one of the darkest chapters in Ireland’s history.

The film is expected to introduce the story to a wider audience when it makes its debut at the Galway Film Fleadh next month.
