The Lake Tahoe mansion of one of the original members of The Beach Boys is for sale, and it’s definitely got some good vibrations.
Beach Boys co-founder Mike Love and his wife, Jacquelyne, are listing their nearly 20,000-square-foot estate for $43 million, according to reporting from the Reno Gazette Journal, part of the USA TODAY Network.
Love has owned the home on the northeast side of Lake Tahoe, located roughly 115 miles northeast of Sacramento, California, for more than four decades.

A spiritual getaway
The property served as a home and creative escape for Love, who is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, having penned the lyrics for some of music’s most enduring anthems, including “Good Vibrations,” “Surfin’ Safari,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “Kokomo” and “California Girls.”
The mansion once included a fully integrated recording studio. It has since been turned into a space with nice views of the Tahoe area but remains ideal for acoustics tuned for music production.

The interiors also reflect the spiritual identity of Love, who practiced meditation. The design draws on Eastern philosophy, featuring a hand-carved Ganesha figure and a hand-painted celestial dome ceiling. The front door, which was commissioned by Love from southern Indian temple artisans, was also blessed by a temple priest.
At the base of the home’s spiral staircase is an indoor koi pond.

Cinema, wine cellar and more
The mansion sits on 2.5 acres, according to the Washoe County Assessor’s office. To prevent future development, the Love family also placed six acres surrounding the property into conservation.
Other amenities include a professional chef’s kitchen, private cinema, wine cellar and tasting room, gym, boardroom, cedar sauna and steam room. The property also has several gathering spaces.

The mansion has 10 bedrooms, including a primary suite that opens directly to a private lake-view deck. It also has 12 full bathrooms and three half baths.

The mansion is currently the fourth-highest priced residential property among those actively listed at Lake Tahoe, according to Homes.com.
The record for the most expensive house sale in Lake Tahoe is $125 million, which was set earlier this year for a home in Incline Village. The home was one of two properties acquired by a mystery buyer with ties to a Silicon Valley venture capital firm.
Love and The Beach Boys
Love co-founded the iconic Southern California rock group The Beach Boys alongside his cousins, Wilson brothers Brian, Carl and Dennis, as well as childhood friend Al Jardine, in 1961.
Brian Wilson was largely credited as the innovative musical force behind the band, responsible for composing its most ambitious record “Pet Sounds,” at a time when the Beatles were redefining pop music through their own experimentations on “Rubber Soul.”

However, as their profile rose, Wilson retreated ever further into the studio and eschewed the limelight that came with touring and interviews.
Love, as lead singer, quickly became the de facto face of the group, propelling them into the sunny stardom that would coalesce around their signature seaside sound and aesthetic, bringing California’s surf culture to global audiences.
