Australian pop star Delta Goodrem said she is “so honoured” to be joining Strictly Come Dancing and expressed her excitement to “give it a go”.
The singer-songwriter and actress also expressed her doubts about her dancing abilities as she discussed her upcoming appearance on the hit BBC dancing competition.
Appearing on BBC One’s Morning Live programme, the 41-year-old was asked about how Strictly compares with anything she has done before.
She said: “I love the spice of life, all the different varieties.
“I’ve been so grateful to grow up in the music industry at home and take on challenges, and I love learning.
“I’m excited to learn from incredible dancers, and the coaches, the judges – I’m like, tell me everything and I’ll do my very best to give it a go.
“It’s such an incredible show here and I’m so honoured to step into it.”
The star also said she will be able to “start doing the jive and the cha-cha-cha very, very soon” while discussing preparations for the hit show.
Goodrem is among the first contestants to be announced for the latest series of Strictly, along with stars such as EastEnders actress Lacey Turner, reality star Dani Dyer and celebrity hair stylist Chris Appleton.

The singer also compared the dancing competition with the Eurovision Song Contest, having represented Australia at this year’s event and landed the country fourth place overall with her power ballad Eclipse.
“It’s not like going into Eurovision, where that’s my voice and I get to go for it – but I’ll give it everything,” she said.
Reflecting on the competition, which took place in Austria in May, Goodrem continued: “Honestly, I felt the whole country with me.
“I definitely felt that support and that love and support from the beginning.
“It was more profound and more special, and a treasured life moment. I will take it forever.”
The star added: “It was so wonderful to be able to be on that stage and to do what I love to do.”
Goodrem rose to fame in Neighbours as shy teenager Nina Tucker from 2002 to 2003.
She returned to the Australian soap for several guest appearances, including the finale in 2022 before the show was rebooted by Prime Video.
Goodrem has also featured as a coach on The Voice Australia, and has achieved massive chart success in the country, landing five Australian number one albums.
