A fundraiser has been launched after a firefighter and his family lost their home following a devastating fire.
Fergal Gatins, his wife Niamh, and their six children have been left with nothing after the blaze destroyed their home in Killybegs on Thursday evening.
The extent of the blaze was such that the road leading up to their home had to be shut, with the Fire Service doing their best to tackle the fire.
Despite their efforts, all of of the Gatins’ belongings were destroyed.
As they try to pick up the pieces, the Donegal Firefighters Association has launched an online fundraiser to help the family through this most difficult of times.
They are asking for donations so the family can afford their basic expenses and begin to rebuild their life.
“We at the Donegal Firefighters Association are asking the local community, Fire Service community and beyond to raise much needed funds for the Gatins Family to help them buy essential supplies and get back on track while they face this terrible ordeal they have found themselves in,” they said announcing the fundraiser.
“Any donation, no matter how small will go a long way on getting the Gatins family back on their feet.”
