A batch of smoked salmon sold by K O’Connell Fishmongers in Cork city has been recalled after concerns it may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued the recall on Saturday, advising consumers not to eat K O’Connell Fishmongers Smoked Salmon Slices in 100g, 150g, and 320g packs with batch code SS16726 and a use-by date of July 16, 2026.
Retailers have been instructed to remove the batch from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.
Symptoms of listeria infection can include mild flu-like illness, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea.
In rare cases, the infection can lead to serious complications, particularly for pregnant women, babies, older people, and those with weakened immune systems.
