With the summer transfer window now in full swing, it is likely that we will see a number of Ireland players make moves at club level over the coming weeks.

Some of our internationals will be making a step up the footballing ladder, while others will move to new teams in search of more playing time after disappointing campaigns last time out.

While you can expect the majority of movement to take place within the UK, it seems one Ireland star could end up at a more unusual destination.

Ireland International Could Be Set For Unorthodox Transfer

Will Ferry has really kicked on in his career over the last couple of seasons, proving to be a massive hit since joining Dundee United. He previously came through the Southampton academy, before a successful spell at Cheltenham Town in the EFL.

The left back would go on to make his Ireland debut last month, coming on during the 5-0 win over Grenada in Murcia. It now looks as though he could be on the move at club level.

The Courier are reporting that Dundee United have accepted a bid for Will Ferry worth in the region of £1.7million from an unnamed Czech top flight club.

However, it is not certain that the player will end up moving to Czechia. He is said to be drawing interesting from a number of clubs in England, with the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, and Charlton Athletic linked with his services. Ferry has also been courted by MLS clubs Vancouver Whitecaps and Los Angeles FC.

It remains to be seen whether any of those sides will match the offer that Dundee United currently have on the table. The deal also includes potential add-ons that could take that fee even higher.

It is likely that the Scottish club will be keen to sell the defender this summer, with the Ireland international having just one year remaining on his current contract. Will Ferry is not part of the club’s current pre-season training programme as he prepares for a move.

The 25-year old will look to establish himself in the Ireland squad moving forward, with his ability to fill in at that problem left wingback position something that is sure to work in his favour when it comes to selection. As a result, he will want to choose his next move carefully in order to bolster his international prospects.

This is one to keep an eye on over the coming days.
