Yesterday, Mayo Mountain Rescue was tasked to assist with an incident on Jamsies Loop in Wild Nephin National Park.
The callout was a multi-agency response involving An Garda Síochána, HSE National Ambulance Service, the Irish Defence Forces, Wild Nephin National Park staff and Mayo Mountain Rescue Team.
A female hiker sustained a lower leg injury after slipping in very wet underfoot conditions while walking Jamsies Loop.
The casualty was assessed and treated at the scene by National Park staff and members of the Irish Defence Forces before MMR arrived. They then transferred her by stretcher approximately 1km to a waiting HSE National Ambulance Service ambulance for onward care.
In a social media post, Mayo Mountain Rescue says they wish the casualty a full and speedy recovery.
