Donegal’s Ladies footballers have retained their Senior Championship status for 2027.
They defeated Waterford after a dramatic extra-time period in their Relegation Semi-Final this afternoon.
James Daly’s side had to come from behind in this fixture, held at at Pádraig Pearses GAA in Roscommon.
They trailed by 1-6 to 0-2 at the half-time break, and were staring at a potential relegation decider next weekend.
It would be one of Donegal’s most consistent stars that would begin the comeback effort.
Suzanne White recorded the first score of the second period, before Eva Gallagher notched a two-pointer to close the gap slightly.
With just over a quarter of an hour remaining Donegal would be awarded a penalty, and White expertly converted from the spot to properly spark the comeback into life.

That goal left just two points between the sides and just over ten minutes left in regulation.
Gallagher scored again to make the gap only one, before White levelled proceedings at 1-7 apiece with another score.
Cait Gillespie gave Donegal the lead in the dying moments, but Waterford would find a rapid response of their own to send the game to extra time.
Captain fantastic Roisin Rodgers would notch the vital score for Donegal in the additional period, finding the back of the net as her side would hang on for a two-point win and secure their Senior Championship status for another season.
