A man in his 40s has been shot dead in Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin.
The incident happened at around 8.30am at Patrician Park on Kill Avenue.
Gardaí have said that the man’s body remains at the scene, which has been preserved for a garda examination.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place and the Coroner has been notified.
A senior investigating officer has been appointed and an incident room has been set up at Dún Laoghaire garda station.
Gardaí have closed off some roads, including Kill Avenue and Glenageary Road Upper.
Local road diversions have been put in place, with Dublin Bus also warning of delays to their E2 route between Dún Laoighaire and Harristown.
Gardaí are conducting door-to-door enquires and are appealing for witnesses.
Any road users who were travelling near Kill Avenue between 8am and 9am and may have camera footage, including dash-cam, have been asked to make it available to gardaí.
