Oasis singer Liam Gallagher has teased England football captain Harry Kane, saying: ‘It’s hard work that singing’ after the striker lost his voice following the team’s victory against Mexico at the World Cup.
The men’s England football team beat Mexico 3-2 in a thrilling game that kept many fans in England fans up in the early hours of Monday morning, with kick-off rescheduled by an hour to 2am.

Following the victory, England fans erupted into a rendition of Wonderwall at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City – with the men’s team joining in for the singalong.
Kane later appeared to have lost his voice as he struggled to speak in an interview with BBC Sport.

Over the course of the 2026 World Cup the rock band’s hit 1995 track has become an unofficial anthem with the men’s team lining up to sing it back to fans.
David Beckham, Chicken Shop Date star Amelia Dimoldenberg and TV personality Jamie Laing also joined in on the celebrations and showed their support for the men’s national team online.
Beckham posted a string of Instagram stories and said: “Now that’s a performance wow. There was no other way of winning this game other than that. Absolutely brilliant.”
He also praised the “brilliant” England manager, Thomas Tuchel, and goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, who said his performance was “absolutely nothing other than perfection”.
“Huge team performance. A night to be proud of each and everyone [sic] of the squad,” he said.
Dimoldenberg said she “can’t cope” in a video shared online with the caption “we did it!”
Meanwhile former Made In Chelsea star, Laing, said: “It’s coming home baby!”

EastEnders actor Ross Kemp also posted a video on his Instagram account and said: “That is without a doubt the best England performance I think I’ve ever seen.
“That is without a doubt true English spirit.”
Chart-topping singers Rita Ora and Lewis Capaldi were also among the celebrities joining in the festivities and watched the nail-biting match at a London pub together.
Ora shared a video to Instagram of their early morning antics, showing herself cheering for footballer Jude Bellingham and also jumping for joy in a sea of fans after one of England’s goals.
Scottish singer Capaldi was shown singing her fourth UK number one single – I Will Never Let You Down – while Ora sang a rendition of his award-winning track, Someone You Loved.
Ora was also seen hugging fellow football fans, and heard screaming and chanting “it’s coming home” as she watched England’s commanding victory.
Beneath the post, she wrote: “Nothing beats a London pub game ever… It’s coming home.”
