Two men have been arrested after gardaí found large quantities of cannabis-infused jellies and cannabis oil-infused vapes with an estimated value of over €2 million after targeted searches of vape shops around the country.
So-called ‘reefer’ cigarettes containing hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) were also discovered during searches of five businesses and two homes in Castlebar, Co Mayo, Drogheda, Co Louth, Longford and Carlow on 2 July and 8 July.
Two men aged in their 30s were arrested in Mayo and Longford and detained under Section 2 of Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at garda stations in the midlands.
The substances will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
The investigation as part of Operation Tarainvolved personnel attached to the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau, Customs Revenue Service and Drug Units based in the Longford, Mayo, Roscommon, Kildare and Drogheda.
Investigations are ongoing.
