Cork is set for a serious jobs boost as a leading energy solutions company has announced a major expansion that will more than double its current workforce.
Sustainable Energy (SE) Systems was founded in Cork in 2010, and over the last 16 years, it has grown steadily, now boasting a workforce of 112 employees and employing up to 300 subcontractors.
The company provides turnkey, energy-saving projects for residential, commercial, community, and public sector clients. This latest expansion will bring up to 150 new employees on board and aims to double revenue by 2030.
SE Energy today opened its new €3 million office at Dublin Hill, Blackpool, which will serve as its Irish HQ. The company also plans to expand its Dublin office and regional hubs across Clare, Donegal and Louth.
SE Systems plans to recruit across a broad range of disciplines, including engineering, project management, energy services, software and digital technologies, operations, technical support and business development. The company say this will create opportunities for both experienced professionals and those entering the workforce.
The new office was opened today by EU Commissioner Michael McGrath, who commented: “SE Systems is a prime example of a home-grown business going from strength to strength.
“The creation of 150 jobs is welcome news in any sector, but especially in the renewable and green economy. Renewable industries are not only good for the planet – they also create high-quality jobs and drive economic growth.
“Through investment in strategic planning, digital platforms, and energy monitoring and metering technologies, SE Systems is well-positioned to support organisations in transitioning to all-electric operations and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.”
SE Energy also plans to invest further in workforce development by expanding training and career opportunities in partnership with educational institutions, apprenticeship providers and industry. Initiatives will include apprenticeships, graduate recruitment, professional development and upskilling programmes, as well as new career pathways in engineering, energy management and digital technologies.
The company has retrofitted almost 15,000 homes and 2,000 commercial buildings since 2010. Among the commercial partners it has worked with are Tesco, ESB Smart Energy Services, Stryker and Johnson & Johnson.
