A local bus company has been forced to cancel one of its routes due to illegal parking to the entry of Shroove Beach.
Foyle Coaches Redcastle announced that their Local Link services 957 and 953 have been cancelled for the rest of the day.
The bus company says that all services will now terminate and depart from Greencastle instead of Shroove, as their buses cannot access their stop at the beach.
Bus cancellations and access issues have been plaguing the beach for a number of years.
Donegal County Council attempted to stem the illegal parking issue on the tight access to Shroove by laying down new double-yellow lines along the road earlier this year.
However images shared by Foyle Coaches today show a dozen or more vehicles still parking on the sides of the single-lane access road to the beach in defiance of the yellow line rules.
This incident comes less than two weeks after the newly-elected Cathaoirleach of the Inishowen Municipal District Martin Farren had stated that those illegally parking at Shroove “would be prosecuted.”
“It has been a difficult few years, in trying to get the work carried out. I would now ask that those who are going to the beach would respect the double yellow lines and not illegally park,” Cllr Farren said at the time.
