One young man is being treated for serious stab wounds in Cork University Hospital this morning after he was the victim of an assault on the northside of Cork city last night.
The alarm was raised at around 9.15pm when the youth, believed to be 15-years-old, was assaulted in the centre of Blackpool, close by the busy shops there. There was a quick response by Gardai and National Ambulance Service and the youth was treated for his injuries at the scene.
Gardai have now launched an investigation, saying: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a serious assault in Blackpool, Cork city on Sunday 12th July 2026 shortly after 9:15pm.
“A male youth was removed from the scene to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at the time.
Investigations ongoing.”
