But when Frederik and Mary stepped out for the Changing of the Guard on 10 July, they were joined by some royal guests: Frederik’s cousin, Prince Gustav, and Princess Carina of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, as well as their two children, Princess Mafalda and Prince Gustav Albrecht.
It appears as though the King and Queen and their royal cousins had been enjoying a game of tennis. Queen Mary wore a white tennis tee from Le Coq Sportif, paired with a Varley skort, tennis shoes from Lacoste and YSL sunglasses – as well as her Marrakech necklace from Louise Gronlykke, which has fast become a favourite of the Queen’s.

Like the Princess of Wales, Queen Mary is a lover of the sport and has often been seen taking to the courts during her royal career, notably during an anti-bullying event with some schoolchildren in 2023. King Frederik, too, is a talented player and was this year spotted in the Royal Box at Wimbledon alongside his childhood tennis coach, Dr. Christian von Buchwald. In 2004, the year he tied the knot with Australian-born Mary, he took part in a social game during the Australian Open.
