ITV Racing is back Saturday with action from Newbury, Market Rasen and Ripon, starting here with the Listed Steventon Stakes over 1m2f. The percentage call is PERSICA even though he has to give some weight away to the likes of Oceans Four. Richard Hannon trains and Sean Levey takes the ride on the five-year-old who has yet to win this season but who was a fine fifth to Map of Stars in the Wolferton at Royal Ascot.

14:10 Market Rasen – Louis Veron

ITV go jumping for this handicap hurdle over an extended 2m. There is every chance LOUIS VERON is miles better than a 124 animal and he looks promising. Two wins have come at Warwick and Stratford and he’s been a very short price every time he’s come to the track. He absolutely hacked up last time so let’s see what he can do. Harry Skelton rides for Dan Skelton.

Now a handicap over an extended 2m. TEAM PLAYER has been in good form this season, scoring at Musselburgh before a fine fifth in the Chester Cup behind A Piece of Heaven. He went to Newcastle last time and wasn’t quite so good on the Tapeta, but still finished a fair ninth. He stays and has every chance off 92 once again. Greg Fairley gets the chance for Ewan Whillans.

14:45 Market Rasen – Soul Icon

Now the Summer Plate Handicap Chase over an extended 2m5f. SOUL ICON is a decent handicapper on his day, and a mark of 141 is workable if he’s ready after 99 days off the track. Last season he was a very useful fifth and fourth at Kempton behind the likes of The Doyen Chief and Lookaway. He goes well there, but was second in this in 2024 off 137 so this track holds no fears. Harry Cobden rides for Keiran Burke.

15:02 Newbury – Noble Champion (each-way)

Up in class now for the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes over 6f. A total flyer here. NOBLE CHAMPION ran like a mad horse in France first time this season and then was terrible on the artificial at Newcastle. He’s back on grass here which should help but he might just need gelding, only time will tell. That said, the Jersey Stakes hero was once good enough to destroy a field like this. It’s a total leap of faith but I’ll chance him at massive odds. Rated 112 he’s technically the best horse in the race by some way!

15:15 Ripon – Star Harbour (each-way)

One from Ripon on ITV in a handicap over 1m4f. STAR HARBOUR would like softer ground, but he’s a pretty useful handicapper over this trip when he’s on song. Ado McGuinness brings him over on the back of a useful fifth at the Curragh and he might have each-way claims for Oisin Orr.

15:37 Newbury – Vollering (each-way)

The Super Sprint for juveniles over 5f. VOLLERING should have an each-way chance for Archie Watson and Tom Marquand. One has to pray stall 26 is not a disadvantage, but he has a mark of 91 and comes into this on the back of two decent placings at Listed level in France. He started off in the UK with a fine win at Redcar and he stays well. Each-way claims in a tough race to call.
