Primark shoppers looking for budget-friendly yet trendy homeware could be in luck. Known for selling fashionable clothing and furniture, the high street giant could be stocking a new crowd-pleaser.
The retailer is selling ‘scalloped’ homeware that arguably resembles a pricier design from another brand. Primark’s £10 Scalloped Edge Wooden Tray could be ideal for tableware shoppers who want a new serving tray. It could also be compared to Very’s £28 The Very Collection Rustic Scallop Wooden Tray, but it is significantly cheaper.
As shown in the product images, both stores are stocking wooden trays with a distinctive scalloped edge in a similar shade. While the designs arguably look very similar, they are not identical. For example, the pricier design has a bobbled inner edge, adding more decoration to the tray.
While Primark doesn’t detail the exact materials, simply stating the tray is 100% wood, Very specifies that its design is made from mango wood. Shoppers opting for the Very brand can also read reviews before making a purchase. Nonetheless, interested customers could compare the product descriptions.
Showcasing the Scalloped Edge Wooden Tray, Primark said: “A circular wooden tray with a scalloped edge and carry handle.” The item is available to buy via click and collect, or shoppers can check in-store availability using Primark’s website.

Width: 40 CM.” The description added that The Very Collection is exclusive to Very, with products designed to coordinate across the home.
As such, the Primark option could impress shoppers looking for a similar style for less. However, the Very tray might be preferable for shoppers who want to purchase matching options or who like reading customer feedback when buying homeware.
Rating the Very tray, a shopper said: “I’d originally bought a rattan tray for our remotes and drinks however the drinks always looked like they were going to fall over and the remotes took over. This is perfect, the beading around the edge makes this look so expensive. It’s a lovely size and the quality is fabulous for the price. Highly recommend.”
