The owners shared a message with customers to thank them for their loyalty.
After decades of serving communities in Limerick City and County Clare, the owners of Central Shoes have announced the closure of their physical storefronts as they prepare to pivot to a new business venture.
In a message to their customers, owners Niamh and Dion confirmed that after nearly 30 years trading in Kilrush Town and almost 20 years in Limerick City, the time has come to close this chapter.
The family-run business has been a staple of the local retail landscape, known for everything from fitting children for their first day of school to helping generations find footwear for life milestones.
While closing the physical doors was a tough choice, the owners expressed that the decision comes out of a desire to step into a new challenge.
“This choice was not made lightly, but as business owners, we have reached a point where we are ready to embrace a new challenge and pivot toward a fresh venture,” Niamh and Dion shared. “While it is difficult to close this chapter, we feel the time is right for us to step into something new.”
The pair paid special tribute to their dedicated staff, calling them the “true heartbeat” of the business, and thanked the loyal customer base that supported the stores across nearly three decades.
“Serving our local communities has been the privilege of our lives,” they wrote. “Your support, your conversations, and your trust through the decades have sustained us and made these years deeply fulfilling.”
To mark the end of their physical retail presence, Central Shoes will be holding a closing-down clearance sale across both the Limerick and Kilrush locations over the coming weeks.
Customers are invited to drop in store to browse the remaining collections, say goodbye, and share memories with the team.
