Financial technology company Stripe has signed an agreement with the Ryder Cup to provide payment services for sales including online ticketing, on-site food and beverage, and merchandise.
The agreement will see Stripe becoming a partner to both the 2027 match at Adare Manor in Limerick, and the 2029 match at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota in the US.
Stripe was founded by Irish brothers Patrick and John Collison and is dual-headquartered in Dublin and San Francisco.
“An event like the Ryder Cup – hundreds of thousands of fans with payments running across ticketing, food and beverage, and merchandise – is exactly the kind of scale Stripe operates at everyday,” said Conor McNamara, Chief Revenue Officer, EMEA at Stripe.
“We’re proud to become a Worldwide Partner and to power the full fan journey, from buying tickets at home, to spending at the golf course,” Mr McNamara said.
Guy Kinnings, chief executive at the European Tour group, said the ticketing, merchandise and catering operations are significant at the Ryder Cup, with over 70,000-square-feet of merchandise space alone at the 2025 match in New York.
“Stripe’s technology platforms will help us to deliver a cashless experience in Ireland with increased speed and convenience for our fans around the world,” Mr Kinnings said.
Terry Clark, chief executive at the PGA of America, said they are proud to welcome Stripe as a Worldwide Partner.
“By leveraging Stripe’s advanced payment solutions, we are excited to offer spectators at the 47th Ryder Cup at Hazeltine a seamless payment experience at every touchpoint,” Mr Clark said.
It was reported last week that Stripe and private equity firm Advent International have made a joint offer to acquire PayPal, in a deal that would value the payments company at more than $53 billion.
