Join Music & Health Ireland’s panel of professional musicians and music facilitators delivering high-quality live music in healthcare and community settings across Ireland.
Open Positions:
1. Community Musician / Music Facilitator (Children & Teens) – Dublin Region
Support our Children’s Programme through interactive, participatory music sessions in hospitals, schools and healthcare settings.
Requirements:
• Experience working with children or young people.
• Confidence facilitating group sessions and encouraging participation.
• Ability to adapt music for different ages and support needs.
2. Professional Musician or Music Duo – Midwest (Clare, Limerick & Tipperary)
Support our Musicians-on-Call (Creativity in Older Age) and Medical Notes programmes. (Music in Hospitals)
Requirements:
• Solo instrumentalist or established duo.
• Comfortable working as part of a small team.
• Willing to travel throughout the region.
About the Panel
Music & Health Ireland is seeking exceptional musicians from all musical genres who wish to develop their artistic practice in healthcare and community settings. Our work is rooted in creativity, interaction, responsiveness and artistic excellence, bringing live music to people who may not otherwise have access.
Who this might suit
Professional musicians who:
• Are instrumentalists (with a portable instrument/ no Keyboards)
• Are a Duo ensemble of any genre or style
Or
• A performer – music facilitator with experience working with different community groups
Who We Are Looking For:
• Relaxed, confident and authentic in your performance style
• Warm, observant and responsive to the people and atmosphere in a room
• Strong communicators, able to engage meaningfully with diverse audiences
• Open, thoughtful and interested in learning through this work
Performances must be fully acoustic — No PA systems or backing tracks.
All musical styles are welcome. We warmly encourage applications from musicians of diverse backgrounds, traditions, and lived-experiences.
While there is no age limit, we are looking for musicians with strong performing experience and a well-developed repertoir
Mentoring & Support
Successful applicants will receive mentoring, repertoire development, reflective practice, training and supported on-site experience with experienced Music & Health Ireland musicians. A mentoring stipend is provided in addition to payment for required meetings, training and project session delivery.
Application Process
1. Download the application form and email [email protected].
2. Submit a short expression of interest (100 words maximum per question).
3. Provide a recent video (under 5 minutes) of a live acoustic performance fomr the last 6 months. If you are in a Duo please have both musicians in the video. If you are an individual performer please only have you in the video. (This does not have to be a professional video.)
4. Include a short music biography and a sample repertoire list of pieces you might bring to the work on the panel you are applying for.(6–8 pieces).
Applications will be shortlisted using the following criteria:
• Professional instrumentalists, Singer/Instrumentals with substantial performance experience and a well-developed repertoire
• Performers and Music Facilitators with experience working with children
• Solo performers or duos of professional musicians who have an established musical identity and experience performing together
• Excellent musicianship and communication, with the ability to engage sensitively and meaningfully with diverse audiences
• Artistic diversity, helping to ensure a broad range of musical styles, traditions and genres within our musician cohort
We are seeking musicians who can deliver high-quality live music while responding thoughtfully to the needs of different audiences and environments.
Next Steps
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an online interview. Inclusion on the panel does not guarantee work but places successful applicants on the Music & Health Ireland Panel of Musicians for consideration for future projects.
