America’s Michael Kim leapt to the top of the leaderboard at the 3M Open in Minneapolis with a remarkable second round of 59.
Kim carded 12 birdies – four of them on the last four holes – and no bogeys as he completed just the 16th round of 59 or under in PGA Tour history to set a clubhouse lead of 14 under par.
He sealed his eye-catching feat with a 24-foot putt on the 18th green to claim a career-best score and set a new course record at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine.

Kim’s second round was a significant improvement on his first, when he managed just three birdies and a bogey five in a two-under-par round of 69.
Séamus Power, the only Irish player in the field, sits tied-15th after a second successive 68 leaves him at six under par.
Starting on the back nine, the highlight of Power’s second round was his eagle on the 18th, with further birdies arriving on the first, third and ninth holes, alongside two dropped strokes.
