Gardai have appealed for witnesses following two aggravated burglaries in the Donegal Town area on Friday.
In one of the incidents, first reported last night by Donegal Daily, two people, aged in their 30s and 40s, suffered serious injuries and were hospitalised.
The incidents are believed to be linked, while a car stolen in the first burglary was later found burned out.
Gardaí received a report of an aggravated burglary at a residential property in Ardeskin, Donegal Town, at around 8am on Friday, July 24
Two occupants there, a male in his 50s and a male in his 30s, were assaulted and received what have been described as serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
A car was stolen from the driveway of the property and that vehicle was discovered on fire at Spierstown, Donegal Town – just off the main Donegal-Ballybofey road – at around 9am that day.
At 8.30am, the assailant, who drove to a residential property in Drumrooske estate, carried out an aggravated burglary of a house at O’Duignan Avenue.
The two occupants of the house, aged in their 30s and 40s, were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

It is understood that the man was armed with a bat and a blade, although this has not been confirmed by Gardai.
A spokesperson told Donegal Daily: “Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any of the incidents to come forward.
“Any road users who were in an of those three areas between the hours of 8am and 9:30am on 24th July 2026 and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
