McDonald’s has applied for permission to extend the opening hours for its proposed new outlet in Letterkenny.

Back in February, Donegal Daily revealed An Coimisiún Pleanála gave the green light for a second fast food restaurant and drive-thru with the famous Golden Arches at the Polestar Roundabout. The initial application was passed by Donegal County Council, but an objection was lodged with the planning appeals board.

An Coimisiún Pleanála rejected the appeal and granted permission, subject to 20 conditions. One of those conditions included the limiting of opening hours to 8am –11pm.

However, McDonald’s this week lodged a fresh application to extend the permitted opening times by three hours, from 6am to midnight, seven days per week.

Work is ongoing at the site of the new restaurant, situated between Rossview Business Park and the Polestar Roundabout.

The original application shows that the existing McDonald’s restaurant off the Pearse Road will continue to operate as normal.
