It’s been a very long time since ANNIVERSARY has graced the winners’ enclosure, but there’s no doubting that he has loads of ability, and maybe this extreme test is going to suit him. They’ve booked Jamie Spencer, so expect him to finally be held up, which is going to prove ideal, and played very late.
The William Haggas team’s patience has worn thin and SABRE STRIKE now reappears sporting blinkers for the first time, suggesting that he hasn’t been putting his best foot forward. I think they might be being a little harsh, as he appears to be crying out for the step up in trip. His ‘running on’ third-place finish last time would suggest.
OZAT put up an eye-catching performance in the Royal Hunt Cup when held up on the wrong side of the racetrack. Surprisingly, they went and forced the issue, going handy in the early stages at Sandown, and he basically fell out the back of the television. Billy Loughnane is booked to ride and they’ve a good starting position in stall five.
TIME FOR SANDALS was third in this contest last season straight after her Commonwealth Cup Group 1 victory. Things haven’t fallen into place for her subsequently this season, but returning to this venue and being back over the right distance can see her put up an improved display; she’s massively overlooked in the market.
NAQEEB has become a bit of a course specialist as he hasn’t finished outside of the first two on his last three attempts at this venue. A couple of the runners are on a slight recovery mission after Royal Ascot and with Julie Camacho’s runner taking a significant drop in grade, he looks a tasty proposition.
