ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was an expensive failure in the Lingfield Oaks trial but she put that behind her with a much better effort over in France 44 days ago at this level. She’s a big girl and will be suited to the galloping nature of this track.

AERONAUTIC isn’t the easiest to handle as he can be very keen throughout the early stages of a race. Despite over-racing last time at Ascot he still hit the line strongly. Dylan Browne McMonagle gets back in the saddle and provided he can settle him into a nice rhythm early on, he’s a major player.

14.08 Thirsk – Witch Hunter (each-way)

WITCH HUNTER is starting to look dangerously well handicapped and his trainer Richard Hannon decides to ease the burden by using capable claimer Seamus Cronin, who claims 5lbs. Witch Hunter is now a seven-year-old, but he hasn’t been this well treated for ages.

14.25 Goodwood – Al Aasy

AL AASY looked as good as ever when winning a small contest at Beverly last time, where he was given a very confident ride. This track clearly suits his kinks and quirks and the now nine-year-old can go back-to-back in this contest.

15.00 Goodwood – Waardah

WAARDAH is another who is bidding for back-to-back wins from last year and it looks a good opportunity for her to do so. Despite this contest probably being a little deeper than the 2025 edition, her ability to quicken at a vital stage of the race can prove a potent weapon again.

Don’t worry about the drop back to this sprinting distance of 6f as COMPLETELY RANDOM ran with the choke out and did a little too much when well fancied last time over 7f at Ascot. He wasn’t given a hard time once his opportunity had gone and it’s no surprise that the world-class Ryan Moore retains the ride.

16.10 Goodwood – Egoli

It wasn’t that long ago that we were thinking EGOLI could go through the grades into pattern company. There’s obviously been a little bit of a speed bump in the road with his career, but he appeared to get back on track last time from a fairly consistent yardstick at Doncaster. He’s only been given a gentle nudge of a couple of pounds from the handicapper to a rating of 89. It looks welll within his range.
