The family of the late Clannad singer Moya Brennan have donated two items of her personal memorabilia to a Donegal hotel.
Sweeney’s Hotel in Dungloe, were presented by two personal items that were selected by the musician before her death in April, 2026.
They will be displayed permanently in the hotel’s Moya Brennan Suite.
The presentation of Moya’s Gold Disc and a personal portrait of the artist were made by her family and presented to Pat Boyle, owner of the West Donegal hotel.
Sweeney’s posted a picture of the presentation on their Facebook page.
“We were honoured to welcome Moya Brennan’s husband, Tim, and their son and daughter, Paul and Aisling, to Sweeney’s Hotel last Saturday, 26th July, as they presented Pat Boyle with two treasured items that Moya chose before she sadly passed away.
“Moya had said, ‘I’m glad to hear there’ll be a bit of me in the hotel room’. Moya’s Gold Disc and her beautiful portrait, which we are told was her favourite, will now take pride of place in our Moya Brennan Suite.”
Sweeney’s described the opportunity to have the memorabilia on display at the hotel as a ‘privilege’.
“Our sincere thanks to Moya’s family for this incredibly thoughtful gift and for allowing us to preserve a small part of her story here at Sweeney’s Hotel. It is a privilege we will always cherish.”
