A man’s body was recovered from the Royal Canal near Cross Guns Bridge in Dublin 7 this morning.
Gardaí and emergency services were alerted shortly before 9am. The deceased has been taken to the local mortuary where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
Dublin Live understands that foul play is not suspected at this time. The deceased has not yet been identified.
A garda spokesperson told Dublin Live: “Gardaí and emergency services were alerted shortly before 9:00am following the discovery of the body of a male in the Royal Canal near the Cross Guns Bridge, Phibsborough Road, Dublin 7, on Saturday 1st August 2026.
“The male’s body has since been recovered from the water. The Coroner has been notified and the deceased has been taken to the local mortuary where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
“The outcome of the post-mortem will determine the course of the Garda investigation.”
