TEED UP won this race in 2022 and 2023 and looks to have been brought along gradually with Galway in mind again by Emmet Mullins, lower in the weights than when shaping well when fourth in a listed handicap at this meeting last year. Timurshah was a decisive winner over course and distance earlier in the week and is feared despite a 13 lb rise, while Playtime, who was unlucky not to finish closer last time, and Bannow Blaze also enter calculations.

Andrew Slattery’s top-weight SIR ALLEN looks interesting tackling three miles for the first time, and he gets the vote in an ultra-competitive handicap. He wasn’t far off his best form when plugging on over a much shorter trip at Ballinrobe recently. A strong pace could bring Elusive Ogie, back on song when fifth at Killarney last time, and Sallap, who has won three of her last four starts, right into the mix, with Beggars Rock and Fou de Toi also appealing.

JUKEBOX JOHNNY didn’t win over hurdles but took well to fences on his chasing debut when runner-up under top weight in a handicap at Limerick, and he can get off the mark for Henry de Bromhead. Journey So Far made a winning start for his new owner J. P. McManus when successful in a beginners chase at Tramore, but may have to settle for second best here, while Golden Temple can maintain his recent run of good form.

BLOOD DESTINY tends to operate at a higher level, winning a Grade 3 at Naas last season, and though he hasn’t shown much in handicaps previously for Willie Mullins, his class should count for plenty in a race of this nature, having been second in a minor event at Listowel last time. He gets the vote, with Le Nez Creux feared most after an encouraging stable debut for Gavin Cromwell when second at Ayr and Drumgill also respected from a good mark.

The form of Tuesday’s BMW Mile handicap looks key in this valuable seven-furlong contest. PIERRE ROYAL is still unexposed for Ado McGuinness and can turn the tables on Orandi from that contest in which he was runner-up, better drawn and better off at the weights with that rival this time. Orandi is a big player himself despite a wide stall, with top-weight Jagged Edge, who was perhaps unlucky in third in the same race, also considered.

Noel Meade’s STAR GLORY showed that a race of this nature is well within her grasp when second at Leopardstown last month, edged out only late on, and she shades preference over Joseph O’Brien’s Seaxburh who has gone close on her last two starts in maidens. Someday Somewhere is a likely improver following her debut effort when finishing third at Leopardstown under a considerate ride and completes the shortlist.

It could be worth taking a chance on IAMIMMACULATE, who has made a bright start for Gerard O’Leary and should be all the fitter for his recent Roscommon reappearance when a keeping-on fourth. JP’s Express took another step forward when landing a gamble in first-time cheekpieces from a number of these here on Friday and must be respected. Into Tomorrow is worth a look at forecast longer odds on her handicap debut despite being out of the weights.

LINFORD looks to have a bright future, and though bred to stay well, has shown he’s by no means short of speed in winning at Killarney and Roscommon. He can make it three out of three in bumpers for Willie and Patrick Mullins. Caislean Gear, second on his debut behind the selection at Roscommon, made all to win at Killarney last time and is narrowly preferred to Mindyourheadmike, himself an all-the-way winner at Clonmel last time, in the battle for silver.
