Shamrock Rovers will play Lillestrom of Norway for a place in the Europa League if they can overcome Albanian side Egnatia over the next 10 days.
The Hoops are in the Europa League third round of qualifying and take on Egnatia, beginning on Tuesday in Tallaght Stadium.
Lillestrom have only played in European competition twice in the last decade, going out in the second and third round of qualifying.
Their most recent campaign was 2022-2023 when they were defeated by Belgian side Royal Antwerp in the third round.
They were competing in the second tier of Norway when winning a domestic cup last year to qualify for Europe.
Lillestrom are fourth in the Eliteserien after 15 games of this year, 13 points off leaders Bodo/Glimt after a 4-0 defeat to that side last week.
Defeat to Egnatia will see Shamrock Rovers drop into a play-off for a Conference spot against the loser of the tie between Finnish side KuPS and Romanian team Universitatea Craiova.
Shels and Bohs play Ajax and FC Midtjylland in the third round of the Conference.
The Reds, if causing a huge upset, would take on Swiss outfit Sion or Armenian side Noah in the play-off.
The Gypsies would be in line to take on Derry City’s conquerors Riejka from Croatia or Ilves of Finland.
Meanwhile, Celtic will face LASK in the Champions League play-offs.
Martin O’Neill’s side were drawn out first against the Linz-based Austrian champions.
The Hoops avoided a potential rematch with Kairat Almaty, who knocked Celtic out on penalties at the same stage last season following a goalless 210 minutes of action.
The first leg will take place on 18 or 19 August with the second leg the following week.
Rangers have an outside chance of taking on Larne for a place in the Europa League.
The Gers must beat Polish side Jagiellona as their European campaign starts this week.
If they do progress, the Glasgow outfit would take on the winner of the tie between Northern Irish champions Larne and Georgian side FC Iberia.
