Shamrock Rovers and Cape Verde defender Pico Lopes has been issued with a three-match suspension after he received a straight red card in the draw with Drogheda United last Friday.
The 34-year-old got his marching orders in injury-time of the 0-0 stalemate at Sullivan and Lambe Park, four weeks on from his World Cup exploits. Lopes was adjudged to have caught Drogheda’s Shane Farrell with a high and late tackle.
Stephen Bradley’s club captain will now miss the upcoming league games against Dundalk, Shelbourne and Derry City, as the Dublin club look to remain top of the SSE Airtricity Premier Division table.
Lopes was available for the Hoops’ midweek victory over Egnatia in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier, and will also be free to feature in the return tie in Albania, as well as their Club Orange FAI Cup showdown against St Patrick’s Athletic on Sunday 16 August.
