Daniel Kinahan is set to be extradited from Dubai to Ireland today (August 8).
The alleged crime boss, who was named in the Irish High Court as a senior figure in the Kinahan crime gang, was arrested in Dubai back in April on the foot of an international arrest warrant.
Mr Kinahan and his father, Christy Kinahan Senior, had been living in the UAE after moving there from Spain back in 2016 — the bloodiest year of the Hutch-Kinahan feud, in which Daniel Kinahan survived a suspected attempt on his life at the Regency Hotel.

Following the completion of the extradition paperwork between Ireland and the UAE, a government military plane left Baldonnell in Dublin to bring Mr Kinahan back to Irish soil.
The plane departed Dublin on Saturday morning (August 8), bound for the Middle East.
It is understood that Mr Kinahan will land in Ireland either on Saturday night or Sunday morning, where it is expected that he will be conveyed to the Special Criminal Court, and from there, it’s expected that he’ll be charged with directing organised crime.

One of the Air Corps’ three military transport C295 planes is being used for the flight.
Senior sources involved in the operation said that the new Government jet had been considered for the flight at one stage but that the idea was abandoned over fears that public perception of using the € 53 million aircraft would be unfavorable.
Mr Kinahan’s right-hand man, Seán McGovern, was extradited back to Ireland from Dubai aboard a C295 earlier back in May. The plane refuelled in France and Cyprus on the way.
Mr Kinahan was named in the Irish High Court as a senior figure of the Kinahan Cartel.
Mr McGovern was extradited in relation to two charges of directing the activities of a criminal organisation and was sentenced to 24 years in the maximum security Portlaoise Prison in June.
Upon his return to Ireland, it’s understood Mr Kinahan will be kept in the A block of the same prison.
