Coronation Street has aired a huge cliffhanger for Gary Windass tonight, following Kit Green’s shocking ultimatum. The builder finally made a decision regarding his involvement in Theo Silverton’s murder – but will he regret it?
The episode began with a furious Maria Connor urging her husband not to “roll over” amid Kit’s blackmail. She insisted Gary comes up with a “plan” to keep himself out of prison.

Maria stormed over to Kit and Bethany Platt in the street, claiming they were happy to throw Gary under the bus to save Sarah. She declared them as bad as each other, and vowed to make them “pay”.
Later, Gary called lawyer Adam Barlow over and explained his plight, revealing what happened on the night of Theo’s death. Adam was horrified but laid out Gary’s options from a legal perspective.
“Option one, you hand yourself in, you play dumb about the scaffold pole, and you take the blame for Sarah not contacting the police,” he explained, adding that option two was to simply hope Kit is bluffing.
He advised Gary that not coming clean will result in a custodial sentence if the police find evidence proving he hid the weapon. However, if he confirmed Sarah’s version of events, it could get her out of prison on a self-defence plea.
Realising that Maria is also implicated in the crime, Gary suggested reporting Kit, but Adam clarified that the evidence could still be used against him.

Elsewhere, Bethany visited her mum behind bars and was frustrated by how calm she was, despite being attacked by an inmate. She revealed Kit’s blackmail of Gary, with Sarah resolving to put an end to his plan.
In a coded phone conversation, Sarah begged Kit not to risk Gary’s freedom and his career for her sake and Kit reluctantly agreed. He tried to ring Gary to let him off the hook, but the call went straight to voicemail.
In the final scenes, Gary and Adam were seen in a police interview room at the station, with the former telling DS Lisa Connor-Swain he was there “to tell the truth”.
But what exactly will Gary share with the detective? And who will face the consequences?
