OPENMOON is a Chinese manufacturer specializing in professional film tools and consumables. Their collection covers almost everything crew members would ever need to carry on set, including slates, filter tags, pouches, monitor hoods, working belts and harnesses, and more. Now, they are coming up with a production bag aimed at camera assistants, DITs, gaffers, and sound mixers looking for an ergonomic solution to carry and organize their everyday tools on set. OPENMOON Crew Gear Box series – features
The OPENMOON Crew Gear Box comes in three different models and sizes: size M, size L, and the L Roller variant, which features a heavy-duty wheel system with a collapsible telescopic handle for easier transportation. Dimensions and internal capacity of the main compartment vary as follows:

All models have a rigid structure with cushioned interior linings to protect your gear. At first glance, these bags look decently built and fully featured. However, only real-life testing can tell whether they’re ready to withstand the demands of life on set just as well as products from established manufacturers such as Panavision, ARRI, OConnor, CineBags, BeBop, or Samas Cases.

The bags feature a waterproof, scratch-resistant PVC mesh exterior finish with two large, removable tool pockets on the front, a bottle or canned air pocket, a MOLLE rigging system running all around the bag, and a pass-through trolley strap on the back (M and L models only) to secure the bag to the telescopic handle of the L Roller model or any other wheeled carrying case.

A hook-and-loop panel and inserts allow you to attach pouches on the inside of the top lid or on the outside of the bag, while an elastic cord system lets you secure a slate or laptop pouch on top of the Crew Film Box. All bags feature an ergonomic carrying system with two handles and a shoulder strap.

The OPENMOON Crew Gear Box series is now available to pre-order at a discounted price via Kickstarter and is expected to begin shipping in August (size M and L) or September (L Roller). The Kickstarter has formally ended but it’s still possible to give “Late Pledges” to receive the gear boxes:
