Emmerdale has revealed details of a surprising development between Nicola and Jimmy King, with the pair agreeing to renew their vows. With one character rumoured to be departing the soap, could there be a twist?
In scenes that air on the ITV soap next week, Lewis Barton suggests that the couple should renew their vows in a bid to celebrate their marriage. This prompts Nicola to reminisce about their big day, and she agrees with Lewis that it could be good for them.

She brings the suggestion to her husband, and is delighted when he agrees. Though it seems that everybody is happy, Jimmy is hiding a secret as he sees the words “mortgage arrears” written on one of the couple’s letters.
“Jimmy is putting on a front for Nicola, but all is not well behind the scenes,” teases our source. “Financial problems for the Kings seem to be piling up – and a vow renewal would surely be the last thing on Nicola’s mind if she knew how bad the situation was.”
It remains to be seen what will happen, with our insider adding: “Of course, Jimmy and Nicola are at their best when they’re tackling a situation head-on, but will Jimmy confide in his wife about what’s going on?”
The developments come amid a potential exit for Jimmy, with it being reported in May that Nick Miles was set to leave the soap later this year. Though not officially confirmed, it has been claimed that the character will be killed off.

If the reports turned out to be true, it would end Miles’s 22-year stint on the soap, with the character having arrived in the Dales in February 2004. He debuted alongside his three brothers and father, though they have all been killed off.
Jimmy’s potential exit could also be influenced by the return of his ex-wife Sadie, with Patsy Kensit due to reprise her role later this month. Not much is known about the new storyline, though producer Laura Shaw teased that it would be “explosive”.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
