Ian Machado Garry is looking to become the second-ever UFC Champion from Ireland when he takes on Islam Makhachev.
Garry, who hails from Portmarnock in Dublin, is set to face defending UFC Welterweight Champion Makhachev on Saturday night at UFC 330 in Philadelphia.
Both fighters are looking to make history in tonight’s bout — Garry looking to become the first Irish UFC Welterweight Champion, and Makhachev looking to extend his UFC winning streak to 17, beating Anderson Silva’s record for the longest winning streak in UFC history.

Hailing from Portmarnock, Ian Machado Garry is a former Cage Warriors Welterweight champion and is currently ranked #2 in the UFC’s welterweight rankings.
He won his first eight fights in the UFC before losing a title eliminator fight to Shavkat Rakhmonov in 2024. From there, he bounced back to win his latest two fights, earning him this championship fight against Makhachev.
Makhachev, the current UFC Welterweight champion and #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the company, is currently 28-1 in his professional career and is trained by former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
While their rivalry perhaps isn’t as poisonous as that of their counterparts in Conor McGregor and Khabib, there’s no love lost between Makhachev and Garry — as they were involved in a tense backstage scuffle and have engaged in a war of words at press conferences.
How to watch UFC 330 in Ireland

If you’re looking to watch the fight on Saturday night (technically Sunday morning), there are a few ways you can do so.
The main card will start at 2am Irish time on Sunday (August 16), with the main event expected to begin around 4am. Preliminary fights will start around midnight on UFC Fight Pass.
