It will be a summer to remember for Mayo’s Fergal Boland and wife Roberta Harrington, not only because of the county’s All-Ireland victory but because of a special guest who appeared at their wedding.
Making his debut for the team back in 2017, it has been a hard few years for them to try and win Sam, but for the green and red county, 2026 was to be their year.
Surrounded by friends, family and most of the Mayo team, the day was everything that the couple could have dreamed of.

Chatting to EVOKE, Roberta, who is a yoga teacher, spoke of how the big day began at St Pius X Doohoma in Ballina, Mayo.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests headed to Erris Coast Hotel, which is located along the North West Mayo shore of the Wild Atlantic Way; the ideal location for photographs.
Partying into the night, Sam turned up, taking part in all the fun!

The couple were pictured lifting Sam with glee during the night, with many of the Mayo football team around them.

Roberta decided on a sleek white gown with a high, softly draped halter neckline. The sleeveless piece is smooth, with a body-skimming fit through the bodice and hips.
While there is no lace or decorative design on the dress, Roberta focused on a lace veil that flowed to the floor. Roberta told us the dress is from Kyha Bridal, an Australian-based fashion house known for its modern designs as well as classic pieces.
Throughout the day, guests jumped into pictures with the bride, with some faces that you will surely recognise.

Kristin McKenzie, Aidan O’Shea’s wife, was one of Roberta’s bridesmaids. They wore a beautiful sleeveless navy dress with off-white flowers as their bouquet.
Dancing well into the night and heading for round two the next day, this wedding will surely be one to remember for the bride, groom and all of the Mayo team.
