A pedestrian in her 80s is in a critical condition in hospital after she was hit by a car in Co Mayo yesterday afternoon.
The incident happened at Glebe Street in Ballinrobe at around 4.20pm.
The woman was brought to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar for treatment for serious injuries.
She remains in a critical condition.
No other injuries were reported.
The road remains closed with diversions in place as gardaí examine the scene.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Those who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 3.50pm and 4.50pm are asked to make this available to gardaí.
