Aldi Ireland has officially reopened its upgraded store in Jigginstown, Naas, Co. Kildare, following an investment worth €4 million.
The store opened its doors to shoppers at 8am on Thursday 20 August, showcasing its new ‘Project Fresh’ design, stretching 1,142 square metres and boasting a new bakery serving fresh bread daily.
Ahead of the long-anticipated opening, store manager Tomas Brchl issued tips for local shoppers to make the most of the reopened store and to ensure they get the best deals available.
He said, “Firstly, look out for Irish suppliers. Aldi works with great producers nationwide, including ABP Food Group, my favourite is the Specially Selected Irish Black Angus Fillet Steak.
“Many of Aldi’s Irish products have unbelievable quality and have the awards to back it up.
“That’s something I’m always very proud to see on our shelves. I know customers are not only getting the best prices for the best quality – they’re supporting local businesses.”
“The new Project Fresh layout in our store makes it easier than ever to pick up fresh Irish meat, dairy and veg, and we’ve recently implemented price drops right across these ranges too.”
‘Fantastic Bargains’
Brchl also noted less conventional ways to save money, saying, “Aldi’s Too God To Go Surprise Bags are always a huge hit.
“Costing €3.99, they contain food worth at least €12 and in the last three years we have sold more than 385,000 of these bags.
“We also mark-down prices on food approaching its best before date by up to 75%.
“Not only can you pick up some fantastic bargains, but you can also help us reduce food waste.”
He also talked about ways shoppers can use facilities available to plan for future savings, saying, “One of my top tips would be to save your DRS returns on a Savings Card throughout the year and keep it for Christmas, which can be an expensive time.
“With September and back to school time just around the corner, Christmas won’t be long coming around, and I’ve found the savings really help take the sting out of the costs.”
Times
Finally, he called on shoppers to make the shopping experience as convenient as possible, saying, “Know the best time that suits you to shop.
“For example, our Specialbuys typically land in store on Thursdays and Sundays, so these can be good days to grab those new items as soon as they hit the shelves – check the leaflets to find out the sales dates in advance!
“For those interested, our quietest (and quickest) time to shop is usually from 8pm to 10pm.
“Shopping later in the day is also a great time to spot some of the marked down fresh fruit, vegetable and meat products.
“We also run autism-friendly hours every Tuesday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, providing a quieter, more sensory-friendly environment.”
