Brennan takes Stage 2 of Vuelta as Pogacar retains lead

Britain’s Matthew Brennan claimed victory in stage two of the Vuelta a Espana.

Riding in his first grand tour, the 21-year-old sprinted to victory in the second stage of the event, a hilly course which ran from Monaco to Manosque.

Pau Miquel finished narrowly behind Brennan in second, while Tadej Pogacar settled for third.

Pogacar still leads at the top of the general classification standings, with Brennan now sitting third.

Eddie Dunbar came home in 84th place, completing the stage in four hours and 48 minutes. Darren Rafferty finished in 163rd place in a time of four hours and 51 minutes.
