Do you ever get overwhelmed by the many options on Netflix? Or do you feel the opposite?

Especially when it comes to movies, it sometimes feels like the algorithm pushes the same options over and over.

To combat that “what to watch paralysis,” the Watch With Us team keeps an eye on the greatest movies available on the platform each month — at least, the ones with the greatest scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

In September 2025, check out these comedies, dramas, documentaries and more on Netflix.

3 New Peacock Movies With at Least 90 Percent on Rotten Tomatoes (June 2025)

This melodrama from Carol director Todd Haynes explores sexuality, power dynamics and sensationalism in a tightly-wound, complex and jarringly funny film. Natalie Portman stars as actress Elizabeth Berry, who is offered the role of notorious pedophile Gracie Atherton-Yoo (played with quirky eeriness by Julianne Moore) in an upcoming film. Eager to get inside Gracie’s head, Elizabeth travels to Georgia to meet Gracie and her husband Joe (Charles Melton), whom Gracie was arrested for raping when he was 13 and she was 36.

Before long, Elizabeth entwines herself into the lives of the couple and their three children, leading Joe to question everything he believes about himself and his family. Portman’s performance balances venom and innocence, while Melton portrays an inner turmoil that will stun viewers with its intensity.

Sometimes, things just don’t go your way — who hasn’t experienced that? And sometimes, your roommate’s boyfriend steals your rent money and you have to earn enough to replace it by the end of the day to avoid eviction, all while preparing for the biggest interview of your life. All right, you may not have experienced those exact circumstances, but you’ll definitely relate to Dreaux (Keke Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA) as they scramble to earn some quick cash during one chaotic, hilarious Los Angeles day.

One of Them Days feels like a mix between Friday, Bridesmaids and Insecure, with a talented cast that includes cameos from Lil Rel Howery, Katt Williams and Maude Apatow. Palmer is as reliably charming as ever, and SZA is a shining star in her acting debut. The friendship between the two roommates is the heart of this hysterical movie.

What if a lie you told to impress your crush became the best thing that ever happened to you? When 15-year-old loner Conor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) tells model Raphina (Lucy Boynton) that she should be in a music video for his band, he has no choice but to start one. What starts as a ploy to spend time with Raphina leads him and his newfound friends to bond over music, despite the economic stress and grim mood that’s taken over 1980s Dublin.

The band christens themselves “Sing Street” after the oppressive Christian Brothers school, Synge Street, that they attend, and their artistic expression inspires them to stand up to the school and to their parents. Funny, sweet and musically exuberant, this film from Once director John Carney is one of our favorites from the 2010s.

3 Netflix Movies I Can’t Wait to Watch in September 2025: ’10 Things’ and More

We must! We must! We must rewatch this movie!

Nearly every girl in America grew up reading Judy Blume’s iconic novel, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, so it was bound to be difficult to adapt it for the big screen — but director Kelly Fremon Craig absolutely knocked it out of the park. The Edge of Seventeen director kept all the important elements of the original story of Margaret Simon (Abby Ryder Fortson) — like first periods, first crushes and first identity crises — while adding more storylines for characters like Margaret’s mother Barbara (Rachel McAdams).

A great ‘70s soundtrack and heartfelt performances make this an unmissable film and a great addition to Netflix. While it’s a coming-of-age story, great performances and universal themes make it a great watch for all ages.

If you didn’t watch this documentary while you were quarantining during April of 2020, you missed out. The film, produced by Ryan Murphy and Jason Blum, follows an elderly lesbian couple — former All-American Girls Professional Baseball League player Terry Donahue and her partner, Pat Henschel — as they finally come out of the closet to Terry’s family after more than 60 years as a couple.

As they navigate the challenges of aging alongside the challenges of prejudice, their love is obvious and heartwarming. With its warmth, realism and heart, A Secret Love more than lives up to its critical acclaim.
