Search for man reported missing in Irish Sea stood down

A search operation following a report of a man missing from a ferry in the Irish Sea has been stood down, the UK Coastguard has said.

The search began after a “report of concern” was made yesterday morning that a man may have gone overboard during an overnight crossing between Dublin and Holyhead.

The Irish Coast Guard was made aware of the report and assisted in the operation.

Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter 116, alongside all-weather lifeboats from the RNLI’s Howth and Dún Laoghaire stations, assisted in the search.

In an update, the UK Coastguard said that following “an extensive search, no one was found and the response was stood down at about midnight, pending any new information”.
