A life-size Lego Technic recreation of the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear has reached 111 km/h, or 69 mph, setting a record for the fastest drivable full-size Lego car.
The vehicle was constructed using 327,906 Lego elements and weighs about 1,800 kg. It uses a bespoke metal chassis, an FIA-spec roll cage, Koenigsegg carbon wheels, and an electric motor driving the rear wheels.
Eighteen model builders worked on the project, which also incorporates Koenigsegg’s ‘Ghost Mode’ system for opening its doors and other body panels. The car more than doubled the previous Lego Technic full-size vehicle speed record.
