More than 1,300 people have signed a petition calling for an ALDI store in Boyle.
A demonstration took place in the town in February after plans approved by Roscommon County Council were appealed to An Coimisiún Pleanála by a third party.
It remains to be seen when the planning body will make a decision.
A decision had initially been expected in late June, but that deadline was extended to allow to mid-August for further information to be submitted.
If approved, the proposal would see the construction of a discount foodstore, including an off-licence, along with the demolition of derelict structures and the repair and refurbishment of the terrace to provide five residential dwellings on St Patrick’s Street.
Organisers of February’s demonstration have been gathering signatures at The Crescent in the town on Friday and Saturday morning and into the early afternoon.
