Republic of Ireland internationals Finn Azaz and Tom Cannon were both on the scoresheet in the Championship on Tuesday.
Azaz was on target as he and his Southampton team-mates beat Swansea 3-1 to humble a table-topper for the second home match in a row.
Ireland and Saints colleague Ryan Manning was involved in an attack early in the game, but after a neat interchange with Leo Scienza, Azaz skied high into the stand.
But five minutes later the Ireland attacking midfield found the bottom corner with a low left-footed shot, after Flynn Downes had powered through.
It was Azaz’s first goal in seven attempts against Swansea, his second of the season, and just the second goal the Swans had conceded in 2026-27.
Cyle Larin, who is the joint-top scorer in the Championship, netted either side of Azaz and Leo Scienza strikes to make it 13 games unbeaten at St Mary’s in a row.
It followed Saints hammering previous leaders Millwall 5-1 10 days ago, although Swansea – who netted through Zan Vipotnik’s penalty – stayed level on points at the summit.
Ireland striker Adam Idah came on in the 70th minute for Swansea to replace Vipotnik.
Meanwhile, three-time Ireland cap Cannon scored his third goal of the season in all competitions as Sheffield United returned to winning ways after a display of ruthless finishing secured a 2-1 win at Blackburn.
All goals came in a first half that Rovers dominated and deservedly took the lead in through Kristi Montgomery’s first goal for the club on 20 minutes.

The Blades were blunted without a shot in anger for the first 34 minutes but they turned the game on its head with goals from their only two shots of the half as striker Cannon stroked home a second on this ground in two weeks in the 35th minute.
And Sydie Peck rifled home his first of the season a minute before the break to complete the turnaround.
Elsewhere, Boys in Green goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu made his first start for Bolton Wanderers but they lost 3-2 at West Ham as the Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen scored twice to take them top of the table on goal difference.
The England international opened the scoring after 13 minutes and earned last season’s Premier League outfit a first win in Bolton for 31 years with his second 13 minutes from time.
In between, Wanderers, beaten for a fourth successive outing, equalised through midfielder Ethan Erhahon’s maiden goal for the Trotters.
And they looked on course for a ninth successive league victory over the Hammers when Ruben Rodrigues converted a 27th-minute penalty.
Instead, Konstantinos Mavropanos levelled with a 31st-minute header and Bowen completed the comeback.
Brian Barry-Murphy’s Cardiff continued their winless start to the season as Stoke held on for a 1-1 draw and their first away point since January in the Welsh capital.
Stoke had hope of an away-day success after a run of nine straight Championship defeats when Ben Johnson scored midway through the first half.
But the Potters came under fierce pressure in the second half and Joel Colwill’s headed home for Cardiff hosts who hit a post three times.
The draw – Cardiff’s fourth in six games – was enough to take the Bluebirds out of the relegation zone, while Stoke slip to 15th.
Ireland international Jack Moylan was heavily involved for Cardiff in attack, including late frustration when he struck the goal frame in stoppage time.
Moylan’s Boys in Green team-mate Johnny Kenny made his first start for Preston but the transfer deadline day arrival was on the losing side as Watford shook off an awful first-half display to grab a 2-1 victory.
One-time Irish senior cap Rocco Vata started for the Hornets who won thanks to two second-half goals in seven minutes from Edo Kayembe and Mamadou Doumbia.
Kenny was involved in Preston’s goal. The Sligo man won a corner on the left, Alfie Devine’s kick found Jordan Thompson just outside the D via a smart stepover by Leo Leroy and the midfielder fired in a shot that home keeper Federico Ravaglia could only push on to his left-hand post.
Lang pounced on the rebound to score from close range despite Ravaglia’s efforts to scoop the ball to safety – Lang’s third goal in two games.
Preston should have gone 2-0 up in the 18th minute. Kenny sprinted down the left with the home defence nowhere and his perfect cross found the feet of Lang, who fired straight at Ravaglia.
Wrexham’s wait for a home win goes on after they were held to a 1-1 draw by winless Burnley who sit one place off the bottom of the table.
Jacques Ekomie headed in his second goal for the club since joining in a £7million deal from Angers this summer, cancelling out Zeki Amdouni’s first-half effort for the Clarets who at least ended a run of seven straight away defeats dating back to last term.
