It’s Friday night in Gorey, Co Wexford and ‘lobbers’ are being thrown left, right and centre.
If you’re not familiar, it’s all part of a game of skittles – a lawn game that grew legs and became nine-pin bowling as the years went on. At Browne’s, one of the town’s oldest pubs, a summer skittles tournament takes place each year, but the game rages on even when the evening’s session has concluded.
