A Westport native involved in helping shape Ireland’s future energy system has been appointed to a senior role with EirGrid.

Liam Moran has been named Director and Group Financial Controller with the organisation, which operates and develops Ireland’s national electricity grid.
He previously worked as Head of Financial Reporting with EirGrid, having joined the company in 2021.
Liam began his career with KPMG after graduating from the University of Galway with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He is also a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser and has worked with companies including Ryanair, Cadence Design Systems and Barclaycard.
His appointment comes as Ireland prepares for major investment in its electricity network as part of the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy.
EirGrid has been allocated €18.9 billion by Government and the regulator for investment in the grid and network, with major infrastructure projects planned through to 2030.
Liam says EirGrid’s work is not simply about keeping the lights on, but is also important in supporting regional economies and communities, including those in Mayo.
He says he is proud to play a part in that work and is delighted to take up the new role at a pivotal time for Ireland’s energy future
