€14.7million has been secured for four major Letterkenny regeneration projects, in what has been described as a ‘significant day for Donegal’.
Announced by Minister James Browne, under the €409 million Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund, Donegal County Council has secured €9 million for Letterkenny Transport Hub – Cat 1B and €5.4 million for Letterkenny Cultural Corridor – Cat 1B.
They have also been granted €150,000 for Phase 2 of the LK Green Connect Phase 2 – Cat 1A, as well as another €150,000 for ‘Into Letterkenny – Cat 1A.’
Donegal Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher described Minister James Browne’s funding announcement as a ‘landmark and long overdue investment in communities that have waited far too long for meaningful regeneration.’
Deputy Gallagher said: “This is a significant day for Donegal.
“The inclusion of key Donegal projects in this national programme is a strong endorsement of the work being done locally to revitalise our towns, support community infrastructure, and tackle long standing vacancy and underinvestment.
He continued: “These projects will deliver real change for Letterkenny and the wider region.
“From improved public spaces and safer, more accessible streets to major cultural and transport infrastructure, this funding has the potential to reshape Donegal’s largest town for the next generation.”

Deputy Gallagher also welcomed the Minister’s commitment to prioritising areas of disadvantage, noting that Donegal has several communities that will benefit directly from this focus.
“Regeneration must reach the areas that need it most,” he said.
“I am particularly pleased that over 30 projects nationally will target disadvantaged communities, and I will continue to work to ensure Donegal receives its fair share of this investment.”
He concluded: “I commend Donegal County Council for the quality of its submissions and the community groups who helped shape these proposals.
“This funding is a major opportunity, and I will be pressing for swift delivery so that Donegal sees the benefits without delay.”
